The short answer: a natural deodorant controls odor but doesn't stop sweat, so the first week or two after antiperspirant feels different. That's normal, and it usually settles quickly.
You will notice sweat again
Antiperspirant reduces sweat. Deodorant does not; it controls odor. So the first thing most people notice is feeling a little damp, especially in a Texas summer. Nothing is wrong. Your body is sweating the way it always would have.
You may see this stage called a detox. We do not make that claim. What changes is simple: sweat is no longer being held back.
Give it a week or two
Most people find the first days are the oddest and that things feel normal within a couple of weeks. If you can, start on a quiet week and not right before a big event.
How to apply it
- Start with clean, dry underarms.
- Hold the stick against your skin for a few seconds so it softens.
- Apply two or three light swipes. More is not more effective.
Do not apply to broken, irritated or freshly shaved skin. If you have known sensitivities, patch test on your inner arm first, and stop using it if irritation occurs.
Storing it
Tallow softens in heat. Keep the stick below 80°F, out of direct sun, with the cap on. If it softens in a hot car or in the mail, a short time in the refrigerator firms it back up.
An easy way to start
Our $6 travel mini lets you try a scent, or Bare with no scent at all, before you buy a full stick. When you are ready, the full-size tallow deodorant comes in the same scents.
